Peter Low – Trade Mark Agent

A

self-taught trade mark practitioner, the late Peter Low started his practice by helping Small-Medium Enterprises (SMEs), located in the city fringes of Singapore with affordable trade mark filing and prosecution services in the 1980s, at a time when the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore was operating out of a colonial house in Fort Canning. Without the aid of computers, trade mark searches and filing of applications were laborious and conducted manually during those days.

The man was ahead of his time and was one of the very few non-legal trained trade mark practitioners in Singapore at that time who won the trust and confidence of many clients through sheer hard work and sound advice, many of whom became lifelong friends and in return referred many of their business associates to him. 

Peter as he was fervently called, was described by many as a dedicated and responsible professional who put his clients’ interest above his own. He won the respect of his international network of associates, many of whom worked with him for decades. His younger son succeeded him in late 2017, a wish the elder Low hoped when he was around. 

His clients include prominent importers/exporters of rice, international restaurant/food and beverage operators, information technology (IT) services establishments and international wellness companies from various countries.

K.S. Low is a partner at PETER LOW IP LLP, business owner, investor and a registered trade marks attorney in Australia (Trans-Tasman IP Attorneys Board). As a trade mark practitioner, he works with business owners on branding and trade mark protection strategies internationally, particularly in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. Being proficient in mandarin, K.S. is often engaged to assist clients in mandarin speaking jurisdictions such as Hong Kong, Taiwan and Republic of China with appropriate trade mark filing and prosecution strategies to extend their brand protection in these jurisdictions.
